Ion Vîlcu

He is director of the Department of Affiliate Members of the World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) since August 2018. He has been Permanent Representative of Romania to the UN Tourism between 2011 – 2016.

He is a career diplomat. He has served as Ambassador of Romania in Mexico (2016 – 2018), Kingdom of Spain (2011-2016), Argentina and Paraguay (2007-2011) and to Chile (2000-2005). Between 2005 and 2007 he was Secretary of State, Head of Protocol of the
Government of Romania.

Since January 2016, he has also been a Master Professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences – Area of ​​International Relations at the Antonio de Nebrija University in Madrid.

He is an engineer, graduated in Computer Science from the Polytechnic University of Bucharest (1990).
