Jaime Ibrahim Mayaki: Director of Technical Cooperation, UN Tourism

Since 2023, Jaime Ibrahim Mayaki has been leading the Technical Cooperation at UN Tourism. In this pivotal role, he oversees the organization’s comprehensive technical assistance projects worldwide, driving multi-sectoral initiatives that enhance tourism’s role as a pillar of sustainable development and inter-cooperation between Member States.

Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Mayaki served as the Deputy Director of the Regional Department for Africa at UNWTO from January 2016, where he played a crucial role in steering and bolstering the tourism sector across 51 African member states. His leadership was instrumental in promoting sustainable economic and social development through tourism, leveraging the organization’s resources to maximize impact.

A native of Niger and Venezuela, and a graduate of Montpellier Business School, Mr. Mayaki’s rich background includes positions at the World Bank and the Millennium Challenge Account, as well as serving as Chief of Staff at the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Niger. His extensive experience in economic development, finance, and international cooperation equips him with a unique perspective on the intersection of tourism and sustainable growth.
